Facility Inspections
In addition to being a great nursing home overall, it also received A+ government inspections in recent years. Its inspections are nearly perfect. Arguably the most important factor we consider in computing our inspection ratings is deficiencies. These deficiencies are found on a nursing home's inspection reports. Nursing homes with higher scores in this category typically dodged the more severe deficiencies involving things like patient abuse. This facility received 2 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none of the deficiencies were considered to be major deficiencies. This tells you that CMS didn't deem any of the deficiencies to be an immediate threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Short-term Care Quality
Adding to this facility's list of strengths, it also was given a fine short-term care grade. We awarded them an impressive grade of A- in this category. Short-term care grades are important for patients seeking rehabilitation. Rehabilitation generally requires higher levels of skilled nursing. Skilled nursing includes a broad spectrum of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, as well as other types of therapy. This nursing home provides more services with physical therapists and registered nurses than most nursing homes we looked at. This is usually a favorable sign. Lastly, we looked at the number of residents who were able to return home from this facility. We found that it outperformed the majority of facilities in the country with 55.9 percent of its patients returning home.
Long-term Care Quality
Turning to another strength for this nursing home, we awarded them one of our more favorable grades in our long-term care category as well, with a grade of B+. Long-term care scores of this caliber generally require both 24/7 care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine healthcare services. After looking at the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we then analyzed the nursing home's vaccination data. This nursing home vaccinated 99.5614 percent of its patients against pneumonia, which is much higher than the average nursing home. Lastly, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. With only 1.03 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this nursing home had fewer hospitalizations than the majority of nursing homes.
Nurse Quality
The next area we looked at is nursing. This nursing home was awarded a better than average nursing score in our assessment, with a B-. While this isn't as strong as several of its other category grades, this remains a decent rating in that category. Nursing scores are mostly tied to the facility's nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 3.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also weighed some quality-based measures. This place scored well in a few of the quality measures we assessed. In terms of the percentage of its residents suffering from pressure ulcers, this nursing home beat the national average.
