Registered Staff Hours
Nurse Quality
We also wanted to emphasize the fact that this nursing home earned an impressive grade of A for its nursing grade. In calculating our nursing grades, we assess both nursing hours and the skill levels of the nurses. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This place performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a facility has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can generally be prevented if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.
Long-term Care Quality
Adding to its impressive achievements in other areas, we gave this facility a score of A for its long-term care grade. When nursing homes receive a score in this range in long-term care it generally means it has plenty of staff and is an overall good place to reside on a permanent basis. On top of considering the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home provided the vaccine to 100 percent of its patients, which is an impressive figure. Pneumonia is too frequently a life threatening illness for nursing home residents so we prefer when a nursing home doesn't roll the dice on this issue. Lastly, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Facility Inspections
This facility has had near flawless government inspections in recent years. We gave them an impressive grade of A- in this area. Inspection scores weigh a host of factors found on a facility's inspection report. One key criteria we look at is the number and severity of deficiencies. Facilities with higher grades in this category usually have very few severe deficiencies. While this place had a few minor dings on its report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are those found in categories G through L. This tells you that the government inspectors didn't deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Short-term Care Quality
The last area we graded is short-term care, where this nursing home was awarded a B+. This topped off an elite profile. Not many nursing homes received a B+ or higher in every single category. In the category of short-term care, we strive to evaluate measures of a nursing home's rehabilitation. We look at the facility's skilled nursing services, such as the ones performed by registered nurses and physical, occupational and other therapists. Fortunately, it appear that this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not every facility employs these types of nurses. However, according to the data this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Finally, we considered the number of patients that returned home from this facility. We found that 5.5 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home.
