One of the many reasons this turned out to be a great nursing home is that it received an A+ long-term care grade. This is simply as good as it gets in this category. Facilities that receive this type of grade in long-term care typically provide consistent 24/7 care to make sure residents are well cared for. After assessing the significant amount of nursing hours provided by this nursing home, we turned to the nursing home's vaccination data. This nursing home vaccinated 100 percent of its residents for pneumonia, which is much higher than the majority of nursing homes. Finally, we looked at the facility's number of hospitalizations. Here we found that this facility had 2.43 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days.

The final category we rated is short-term care, where this facility was given a grade of A. This topped off a very favorable report card. Very few facilities earned an A- or higher in every single category. In calculating our short-term care grades, we analyze the facility's levels of highly skilled nursing services, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists respiratory therapists and other highly skilled individuals. This grade is often a meaningful assessment of a nursing home's rehabilitation services. Fortunately, this nursing home offers both physical therapists and registered nurses. Not all facilities offer both. The final metric we looked at in this category is the percentage of residents who were able to leave the facility and return to the community. It fared as well as just about any facility in Florida in this area with 59.9 percent of its residents returning home. For most facilities, fewer than half of their short-term residents are able to return home.
