Facility Inspections
We want to draw your attention to the fact that this nursing home outperformed its overall score in the area of inspections. In fact, it received an excellent government inspection report this year. As a result, it received one of our highest grades in this category with an A+. These inspection ratings take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies and federal fines. You can find more information about each of these factors by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. Amazingly, this was one of the few nursing homes in the country that had no deficiencies whatsoever on its inspection report. This is very impressive. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Long-term Care Quality
Another one of this nursing home's more favorable category grades was in the category of long-term care. In that area, we awarded this facility a grade of B. Nursing homes that do well in long-term care typically are well-staffed and offer extensive hands on care to patients. In addition to assessing the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility vaccinated 95.89744 percent of its residents. Vaccines are vital to keeping residents healthy. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its patients out of the hospital. It had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Short-term Care Quality
This facility's third best category turned out to be short-term care. In that category, we gave this facility a grade of C. Short-term care ratings are vital for people seeking rehabilitation. Rehabilitation usually mandates more highly-skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes a vast range of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this facility employs registered nurses. Not all facilities employs these types of nurses. However, based on the data they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Finally, we assessed the percentage of residents who who were able to eventually return home from this nursing home. We found that 4.7 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was well below average.
Nurse Quality
This nursing home's worst area is nursing, which is the last category we looked at. For this area, we awarded this nursing home a grade of just D. Our nursing grade assesses many components, but the main one is the level of nurse hours spent with patients. This facility averaged a meager 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident each day. On top of receiving below average marks for nursing hours, this place was less impressive in some of the quality-based metrics we looked at in determining our nursing scores. We looked at the percentage of patients experiencing pressure ulcers and found this facility was at roughly 150 percent of the national average in this statistic. This is a bad sign when you consider that many pressure ulcers are preventable with better nursing care. Unfortunately, this statistic really pulled down this facility's nursing rating substantially.
