Facility Inspections
While we were not high on this facility overall, we awarded it a grade of B- for our inspections rating. This grade is better than this place's overall grade. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in determining our inspection scores. One key factor is health deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of deficiencies is usually more meaningful than the number of deficiencies, as some end up being quite minor. Fortunately, although this facility had a few minor dings on its report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are those found in categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This means CMS did not deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. A few minor deficiencies aren't necessarily the end of the world.
Nurse Quality
We also want to point out that this facility received a decent grade in our nursing category. We awarded it a grade of C in the area. Our nursing score is largely tied to a facility's nurse staffing. This facility provided just 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a relatively low total compared to most other facilities. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this nursing home surprisingly fared better in some of the quality-based metrics we assessed. It performed well when it comes to avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be reliable measures of the quality of nursing care. In some cases, the quality of nursing care is every bit as important as the number of hours of care provided.

Short-term Care Quality
We also awarded this nursing home a decent grade in the category of short-term care, where it received a grade of C. Short-term care scores are meaningful for patients needing rehabilitation. Rehabilitation typically utilizes higher levels of highly-skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing means a vast scope of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. Unfortunately, we found that this facility provided fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most other facilities. The last datapoint we looked at in this category is the number of patients who ultimately were able to return home from the facility. We found that just 4.3 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home. This figure was below the national average.
Long-term Care Quality
This facility's least impressive category was long-term care, which is the last area we analyzed. In this category, we awarded this facility a grade of D. For patients seeking a permanent residence rather than skilled nursing, long-term care grades are very important. In addition to considering the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility administered the vaccine to 96.56652 percent of its residents. Surprisingly, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this nursing home has less hospitalizations than the average nursing home. Sadly, some of its other scores in this category weren't as favorable as these.
