Facility Inspections
While we did not rate this nursing home well overall, we wanted to point out its decent health inspection reports in recent years. We awarded it a somewhat respectable grade of B- in that category. We would argue that one of the most important factors in assessing an inspection report is deficiencies. We especially focus on the severity of those deficiencies. This nursing home was assessed 2 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none of the deficiencies were considered severe. This tells you that CMS did not consider any of these deficiencies to pose an immediate risk to resident health or safety. Finally, CMS cited this nursing home for possible abuse or neglect. Hopefully, its performance improves in the future, but until then we simply can't recommend this facility.
Nurse Quality
We also ended up giving this facility a fairly respectable grade in the area of nursing, where it received a grade of B-. Our nursing rating is primarily tied to the facility's level of nurse staffing. This facility provided just 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a relatively low total compared to most other facilities. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this place actually fared better in some of the quality measures we assessed. In fact, it performed well in terms of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. Many consider these areas to be good measures of the quality of nursing care. In some cases, the quality of nursing care is every bit as important as the quantity of hours of care provided.

Long-term Care Quality
The next highest area we gave this facility in any category came in the category of long-term care, where we awarded it a grade of B-. For prospective residents in need of a permanent residence as opposed to skilled nursing, long-term care grades are very important. After considering the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we next considered the facility's vaccination statistics. We were optimistic to find that this facility vaccinated 99.425285 percent of its patients against pneumonia. This nursing home keeps its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0.03 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
Short-term Care Quality
The next area we assessed is short-term care, turned out to be this nursing home's worst category. We gave this nursing home a D in this category. Short-term care ratings are based in part on a facility's quantity of skilled highly skilled professionals. This means a wide spectrum of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, in addition to other forms of therapy. With a grade this poor in this category, we weren't shocked to learn this facility was below average in two of the key staffing figures we looked at. It supplied far fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per patient than most nursing homes. Lastly, we considered the number of residents who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. This wasn't a strength for this nursing home. We found that just 4.5 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home. At most facilities, about half of their patients are able to return home so this is well below average.
