Facility Inspections

Grade: C

While this place's overall grade was as bad as it gets, it actually didn't perform terribly in the area of inspections. In fact, we awarded it a C for that category, which is one of our better scores. Inspection grades account for several factors found on a nursing home's inspection reports. One key criteria we weigh heavily is the number and severity of deficiencies. This place had 10 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none were in categories G through L. This tells you that it avoided the more ominous categories of deficiencies. Unfortunately, we also need to draw your attention to the fact that this facility received significant government fines in recent years.

Nurse Quality

Grade: D

Unfortunately, this facility only received a grade of D for its nursing grade, which was actually one of its better category grades. Our nursing grade is largely based on the facility's level of nurse staffing. This facility offered a meager 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident each day. This is not a very impressive figure. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in computing our nursing ratings. This place fared well when it comes to avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these datapoints to be good measures of the quality of nursing care.

Long-term Care Quality

Sadly, this facility received an F for its long-term care score. Nursing homes that receive this kind of grade in long-term care likely don't provide the type of consistent 24/7 care that some other nursing homes offer. Once we assessed the volume of care provided by nurses, we turned to the facility's vaccination record. Frankly, we were a bit worried that this facility vaccinated just 67.488075 percent of its patients against pneumonia. Surprisingly, this facility actually fared well at keeping its residents out of the hospital. It had just 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. This was its best score in this category.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: F

The last area we rated is short-term care. This facility received an abysmal grade of F in that area. With our short-term care category, we try to create a valuable gauge for rehabilitation. In this process, we assess a facility's offerings of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as respiratory therapy. Given its score in this category, we weren't surprised to discover that this nursing home is well below average in terms of its quantity of physical therapy and registered nurse hours offered to its patients based on the metrics we looked at. The final item we considered in this area is the percentage of residents who ultimately were able to return home from the nursing home. This facility struggled quite a bit in this area as well, with just 3.9 percent of its residents returning home.
