In addition to being a strong facility overall, this nursing home excelled in our inspections category, where it earned an A+. Not many facilities performed better in this category. Our inspection grades are tied to pieces of information located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Places that score well in this category typically have few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these places should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. While this place had a few deficiencies on its government inspection report, none were serious based on CMS' scale. A few minor dings are not necessarily something to panic about.

This nursing home is also strong in the area of long-term care, where it was given a score of B+. It outperformed most nursing homes in this category. If you are looking for services other than short-term rehabilitation, you should take a close look at long-term care ratings. On top of considering the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility gave the vaccine to 93.023254 percent of its patients. This is slightly lower than we expected but still a respectable percentage. Lastly, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

The next highest grade we gave this nursing home came in the category of nursing, where we gave it a grade of C. This wasn't quite as good as some of its other scores, but a grade in this range is not the end of the world. Our nursing rating consists of many subcategories, but the paramount one is the quantity of nurse hours spent with patients. This facility provided just 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a relatively low total compared to most other facilities. Finally, although this place got dinged a bit for its nursing hours, it excelled in a few of our quality-based measures. With less than five percent of its residents experiencing pressure ulcers, it did well in this metric.

Sadly, this grade hurt the facility's overall grade a bit. Our short-term care ratings are meaningful for residents in need of rehabilitation. Rehabilitation typically utilizes more highly-skilled nursing services. This includes a vast range of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. Unfortunately, we learned that this place provides less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per patient than most other facilities. Finally, we assessed the number of patients who ultimately returned home from this facility. This facility didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 4.4 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was quite a bit off the national average.
