Facility Inspections
Although we did not rate this facility favorably overall, we want to point out its nearly flawless health inspections in recent years. We awarded them an impressive grade of A in this category. Inspection ratings weigh a host of factors found on a facility's inspection report. One of the most important criteria we consider is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. You generally want to avoid facilities with a bunch of severe deficiencies flagged. Fortunately, although this place had some minor dings on its inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones labeled as categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This means CMS didn't deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. A few minor deficiencies are not necessarily the end of the world.
Nurse Quality
We awarded this facility a respectable grade in the area of nursing as well, with a grade of C. Nursing grades are largely associated with the facility's nurse staffing. This place provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient on a daily basis. This is a relatively low total compared with most facilities. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this facility surprisingly excelled in some of the quality-based metrics we assessed. In fact, it scored well when it comes to minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. Many consider these areas to be good measures of the quality of nursing care. In some cases, the quality of nursing care is every bit as important as the number of hours of care provided.

Long-term Care Quality
We also awarded this facility a middle of the pack grade in the area of long-term care, where we awarded it a C. Long-term care ratings are based on a facility's volume of nursing care. This includes a broad range of personal care services, ranging from assistance with activities of daily living to routine medical services. One of the datapoints we considered on top of nursing hours is vaccinations. Frankly, we were a bit concerned this nursing home administered the pneumonia vaccination to a relatively low 77.93103 percent of its residents. Fortunately, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
Short-term Care Quality
The next area we rated is short-term care. This nursing home received a rock bottom grade of F in that category. Our short-term care grades are likely most critical for patients needing a nursing home for rehabilitation. Rehabilitation generally mandates higher levels of skilled nursing services. This includes not merely nursing, but also physical and speech therapy, as well as other variations of therapy. Based on its grade in this category, we weren't surprised to discover that this facility was well below average in terms of its number of registered nurse and physical therapy hours offered to its residents based on the metrics we looked at. Frankly, this was what we expected to find. Finally, we considered the percentage of residents who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. This wasn't a strength for this nursing home. We found that just 3.1 percent of this facility's patients returned home. At most facilities, around half of their residents are able to return home so this is well below average.
