Even though we graded this facility extremely poorly overall, it received a fairly respectable nursing score this year. We gave it a B- in that category. The nursing grade weighs quite a few datapoints, but the primary one is the level of nurse hours spent with patients. This nursing home provides 3.6 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also factored a few quality measures into our nursing grades. This place was relatively weak in two of the major datapoints we focus on, with below average scores for minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. These areas are often good indicators of the quality of nursing care provided.

Short-term Care Quality

Incredibly, we gave this facility a B- for its short-term care grade, which is not a bad grade. Our short-term care scores are important for patients in need of rehabilitation. Rehabilitation usually requires more highly-skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes a wide range of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. This nursing home elevated its grade in this category by offering more care from registered nurses to its residents than the average facility. The final item we assessed in this category is the percentage of patients who who were able to eventually return home from the nursing home. This place performed well in this area with 75 percent of its patients returning home. Unfortunately, at most facilities, fewer than half of their short-term residents are able to return home.

We wanted to draw your attention to this facility's inspection grade where it received an F. You should pay close attention to any deficiencies on a facility's inspection reports when it receives this poor of an inspection grade. We recommend you pay close attention to the level of severity of those deficiencies. This nursing home was hit with 2 deficiencies by government inspectors. The only favorable thing we can say is that none of its deficiencies were in the categories that indicate that they caused a threat to patient safety or health. Finally, CMS flagged this nursing home for possible abuse or neglect. This is not what you want to see. We advise you to direct your search elsewhere.

Switching gears to the fourth area, this facility really didn't fare well in this area either. Due to an abysmal grade of F in long-term care, this is really as bad as it gets. For long-term care residents, the nursing home's primary goal is to keep patients as healthy and safe as possible. This is different than skilled nursing or short-term care where the goal is to rehabilitate residents. On top of looking at the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home vaccinated 95.34884 percent of its residents, which is more than the vast majority of nursing homes. Surprisingly, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. With only 1.36 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this facility has fewer hospitalizations than many nursing homes. Sadly, some of its other scores in the category were not as favorable as these.
