Nurse Quality
Although we gave this facility a poor overall score, we actually gave it a fairly respectable grade in the area of nursing, where it received a grade of B-. This was better than its other category grades. Nursing scores are based in large part on quality and quantity of nursing care. This facility provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient each day. This is a much lower figure than we were hoping for. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this facility fared better in some of the quality-based metrics we looked at. It performed well in terms of avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers.
Short-term Care Quality
One of this nursing home's more favorable category scores came in the area of short-term care. This wound up being its second most favorable category. In that area, we gave this facility a B-. In determining these short-term care ratings, we look at the facility's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses, respiratory therapists, physical therapists and other types of therapists. Our goal is to devise a tool for comparing the rehabilitation services of various facilities. In this nursing home's case, we were surprised to learn that it actually provides less registered nurse and physical therapist hours per patient than the average facility. The last item we looked at in this area is the number of residents who ultimately returned home from the facility. We found that just 6.5 percent of this facility's patients returned home.

Long-term Care Quality
The third category we analyzed was long-term care, where this facility was awarded a grade of C in this category. In determining our long-term care grades, we analyze the personal care offered to a nursing home's patients. On top of looking at the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. Fortunately, this nursing home gave the vaccine to 100 percent of its residents, which is an above average statistic. This facility also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
Facility Inspections
Turning our last category of inspections, this facility received an abysmal grade. For facilities with bad inspection grades, you should focus on any severe deficiencies found on their recent inspection reports. This nursing home had 2 deficiencies on its inspection report. The only favorable thing we found is that none of the deficiencies were in the categories that suggest that they posed a risk to resident health or safety. Finally, CMS cited this nursing home for possible abuse or neglect. Hopefully, its performance improves in the future, but until then we simply can't recommend this facility.
