Facility Inspections

Grade: D

Neither this facility's overall grade nor its category grades gave us much to write home about. Its best category was inspections, but even here it received a D. This is a very poor grade. Our inspection grades account for several factors found on a nursing home's inspection report. One of the most important criteria we look at is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. This facility was assessed one category G through L deficiency, which are among the more serious deficiencies. This generally indicates that the deficiencies found by inspectors had potential to create actual harm to patients. Lastly, we would like to point out that this nursing home was assessed significant government fines in recent years totaling more than $100,000. This usually suggests that a poor performance has been an issue for more than one year.

Nurse Quality

Grade: F

We also wanted to draw your attention to this facility's poor nursing grade where it received an F. Our nursing score is primarily tied to a facility's level of nurse staffing. This particular place averaged a meager 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient daily. This number is far below the national average. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing ratings. This place fared well when it comes to avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: F

Additionally, we gave this facility an F in the category of short-term care. Our short-term care ratings are based on the nursing home's quantity of highly-skilled skilled healthcare professionals. This means a wide spectrum of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, not to mention other variations of therapy. Not surprisingly, we discovered that this place provides substantially less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than the typical facility. Lastly, we looked at the number of patients who were able to return home from this facility. This nursing home didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 3.7 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was quite a bit off the national average.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: F

Moving on to the final category, this nursing home did not fare very well in this category either. With an abysmal grade of F in long-term care, this is really as as uninspiring as it gets. Long-term care scores of this caliber generally are a bad sign for the quantity and quality of care provided by nurses and aids, as well as the levels of routine medical care available. One of the data points we considered in addition to nursing hours is vaccines. Candidly, we were a bit concerned this facility provided the pneumonia vaccine to just 23.980818 percent of its residents. Surprisingly, this nursing home actually fared well at keeping its residents out of the hospital. It had just 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. This is its best feature in this category.
