Long-term Care Quality
In addition to being a first rate facility overall, this nursing home also performed well in the area of long-term care, where it received an A+. Few nursing homes fared better in this category. Facilities that receive this type of score in long-term care typically provide consistent around the clock care to make sure patients are well cared for. This facility's vaccination data weren't as favorable a few of the other datapoints in this category, such as its nursing hours data. This nursing home administered the pneumonia vaccine to just 85.41667 percent of its patients. We would love to see some improvement in this area next year. The last datapoint we looked at was the facility's hospitalization rate. Here we found that this place had 2.04 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days.
Nurse Quality
One of the other reasons we graded this facility so highly is that it received a very impressive nursing grade. In fact, nursing turned out to be its second best category grade. In that area, we awarded this nursing home an A+. Our nursing grade analyzes the facility's level of nurse staffing. We weigh both the levels of licensure of the nurses and the number of hours spent with patients. This nursing home offers extremely high levels of nursing care, averaging 4.8 hours per patient per day. This is more nursing care than nearly any other facility provides. Lastly, this place also excelled in several of the quality-based metrics we assessed. With fewer than five percent of its residents suffering from pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any nursing home North Dakota in this category.
Facility Inspections
Continuing with its amazing performance, this facility also received an A+ inspection score. This is based on its recent government inspection reports. Our inspection scores are tied to pieces of information found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Places that score well in this area have very few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these nursing homes should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Short-term Care Quality
The last category we looked at is short-term care, where this nursing home was given a grade of B+. This wrapped up a very strong profile. Only a select few nursing homes earned a B+ or higher in all four categories. Our short-term care grades are believed to be more important for residents requiring rehabilitation from their nursing home. Rehabilitation generally requires additional skilled nursing services. This includes not only nursing, but also physical and occupational therapy, as well as other variations of therapy. When we assessed this facility's nursing hours, we found it offered more care from registered nurses than most nursing homes. The last datapoint we assessed in this category is the percentage of residents who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community. We discovered that 0 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home.
