To go along with its decent overall score, we gave this nursing home an A+ for our inspections rating. This grade is far more impressive than its overall score. Inspection grades are tied to several items found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Places that score well in this category tend to have very few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these nursing homes should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. Amazingly, this was one of the few nursing homes in the country that had no deficiencies whatsoever on its inspection report. This is very impressive. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Additionally, we awarded this facility a B in our long-term care category. This happens to be one of our better grades. If you are looking for anything other than rehabilitation, you should take a close look at each nursing home's long-term care grades. On top of considering the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility gave the vaccine to 44.705887 percent of its patients, which is somewhat lower than we expected. While its vaccination rate was a bit lower than we like to see, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. With just 1.47 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this facility has fewer hospitalizations than many nursing homes.

The third area we looked at was short-term care, where this nursing home was given a grade of B- in this category. Short-term care ratings are based in part on a nursing home's quantity of highly-skilled nursing services. This means a vast range of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, not to mention other variations of therapy. Remarkably, this facility provides its residents with at least 50% more physical therapist hours per week than the average facility. Finally, we assessed the number of residents who were able to return to the community from this facility. This place outperformed most nursing homes in this metric with 60.7 percent of its residents returning home.

The final area we looked at is nursing, which turned out to be this nursing home's worst category. It received an abysmal F for this area, which is clearly a major concern. The nursing score considers a variety of factors. The most important one is the quantity of hours nurses spend with residents. This particular nursing home provided 3.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day, which is below average. In addition to receiving below average scores for nursing hours, this facility was less impressive in some of the quality-based metrics we looked at in computing our nursing ratings. We looked at the percent of patients sustaining pressure ulcers and found this nursing home was at roughly 1.5 times the national average in this metric. This is a bad sign when you consider that many bed sores are believed to be preventable with better nursing care. Unfortunately, this statistic pulled down this nursing home's nursing grade substantially.
