Facility Inspections

Grade: A

The primary reason this turned out to be a decent nursing home is that it earned an excellent inspection score. Its inspection grade was far better than its overall grade. In the inspections category, we gave it an A. Inspection scores weigh several factors found on a facility's inspection reports. One of the most important criteria we rely on is the number and severity of deficiencies. Facilities with higher scores in this category generally have very few severe deficiencies. This place received 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none were considered severe. This means that the government inspectors didn't consider any of the deficiencies to cause an imminent risk to resident safety or health. A couple minor deficiencies shouldn't lead you to cross a nursing home off your list.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B

Another one of this nursing home's better category scores was in the category of long-term care. In that category, we awarded this facility a B. It actually outperformed most facilities in this category. In a long-term care setting, the nursing home's primary objective is to maintain patients' quality of life and keep them safe. On top of looking at the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home vaccinated 91.77631 percent of its patients. This is somewhat below what we anticipated but still a decent figure. Clearly, this place is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Nurse Quality

Grade: C

We also gave this nursing home a decent score in the category of nursing care, with a grade of C. Our nursing rating features several factors. The most important one is the quantity of hours nurses spent with residents. This nursing home averages just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a very low figure. Lastly, although this place got dinged a bit for nursing hours per resident, it actually excelled in a few of our quality-based metrics. With less than five percent of its residents experiencing pressure ulcers, it performed very well in this subcategory.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: F

This nursing home's weakest area is short-term care, which is the final area we assessed. Sadly, it received a lowly F in this category. In spite of some respectable scores in other areas, this score is nevertheless alarming so we felt obligated to make a note of it. Our short-term care ratings are based in part on a nursing home's quantity of skilled highly skilled professionals. This includes a broad range of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, in addition to other variations of therapy. As you might expect, we learned that this facility offers far less registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than a typical nursing home. Finally, we assessed the number of patients that who were able to eventually return home from this nursing home. This nursing home didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 4.5 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home.
