Government - State
In addition to performing well overall, this nursing home also earned nearly flawless government inspections. Consequently, it earned one of our highest grades in that category with an A+. Arguably the most significant factor we consider in calculating our inspection ratings is deficiencies. Deficiencies can be found on a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Facilities with better scores in this area most likely dodged the most severe deficiencies involving patient abuse or death. Amazingly, this was one of the few nursing homes in the country that had no deficiencies whatsoever on its inspection report. This is very impressive. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Long-term Care Quality
Among this nursing home's other strengths is its superb long-term care grade. It received one of our strongest grades in that area, with a grade of A-. Nursing homes that receive this type of score in this category typically provide consistent 24/7 care to make sure residents are well cared for. This nursing home clearly fared favorably enough in these metrics to earn an impressive score in this area.
This facility is also strong in the area of nursing, where it received a grade of B+. It outperformed most nursing homes in this category. We weighed the levels of nurses working for the facility, in addition to the quantity of hours the nurses worked with patients, in computing our rating in this category. This nursing home averages 0 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This place performed very well in terms of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.
Short-term Care Quality
The final category we assessed is short-term care. In that area, we awarded this nursing home an acceptable grade of C. This turned out to be this nursing home's least impressive category. Short-term care ratings are crucial for people requiring rehabilitation. Rehabilitation generally mandates additional highly-skilled nursing. This means a vast spectrum of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, as well as other forms of therapy. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like this facility submitted information about its staffing of registered nurses or physical therapists. The final metric we looked at in this category is the number of patients who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community. We discovered that just 18.8 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home, which is actually below average.
