Facility Inspections
On top of having a decent overall grade, we also would like to point out that this facility earned favorable government inspections in recent years. We gave it one of our better grades in that area, with a grade of B+. This is a notably better grade than the nursing home's overall score. Perhaps the most significant factor we look at in calculating our inspection scores is deficiencies. These deficiencies can be found on a nursing home's inspection reports. Nursing homes with higher grades in this category most likely avoided the more severe deficiencies involving things like patient abuse. While this place had some deficiencies on its inspection report, none were major deficiencies based on CMS' scale. A few minor dings aren't the end of the world.
Long-term Care Quality
Another one of this nursing home's more favorable category grades came in the area of long-term care. In that category, we awarded this facility a B. For residents looking for a permanent place to live as opposed to rehabilitation, long-term care grades are an important measure. In addition to assessing the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility vaccinated 87.31501 percent of its patients. This is somewhat less than we were hoping for. Clearly, this facility is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Short-term Care Quality
The next category we graded is short-term care. In that area, we gave this facility a B-. With our short-term care score, we attempt to craft a valuable gauge for rehabilitation. In doing so, we look at a facility's level of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as speech therapy. Unfortunately, we were not able to track down information on registered nurse or physical therapy staffing for this nursing home. The last statistic we looked at in this area is the percentage of patients who were able to leave the facility and return to the community. We discovered that just 4.9 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home, which is below average.
Nurse Quality
Moving on to our final area, this nursing home was given a grade of B- in nursing, which we consider to be a respectable grade. The nursing score consists of several subcategories, most of which are based on levels of nurse staffing. This nursing home averages just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a very low figure. Finally, our nursing ratings also factor in some quality-focused measures. We like to look at the percent of patients who experienced pressure ulcers and major falls. These statistics are measures of the quality of nursing care, since better care tends to reduce these issues.
