Facility Inspections
While we did not rate this facility well overall, we want to note its decent inspection reports in recent years. We gave it a somewhat respectable grade of B- in that area. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in determining our inspection scores. One of those factors is health deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of the deficiencies is usually more meaningful than the number of deficiencies, as some deficiencies are quite insignificant. This nursing home was hit with 4 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none were considered to be severe. This indicates that CMS did not consider any of these deficiencies to pose an imminent risk to resident health or safety. Lastly, this facility was flagged by CMS for possible abuse or neglect. We prefer to avoid facilities with this designation. Please do your best to find an alternative nursing home.
Nurse Quality
We also want to point out that this facility received a decent grade in our nursing category. We awarded it a grade of B- in the area. Our nursing score is largely tied to the facility's nurse staffing. This particular nursing home provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident daily. This figure is far below average. Lastly, despite not having the highest total nursing hours, this facility performed admirably in the area of preventing major falls. This is often a reliable indicator that a facility has sufficient quality controls in place.

Short-term Care Quality
The next category we looked at was short-term care. In that category, we gave this nursing home a B-. In calculating our short-term care ratings, we look at a facility's levels of skilled nursing, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists speech therapists and other types of therapists. This grade is more often than not a useful assessment of a nursing home's rehabilitation. Unfortunately, we found that this place provided fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most other facilities. The last item we looked at in this category is the number of patients who were able to leave the facility and return to the community. We discovered that just 5.5 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home, which is actually below average.
Long-term Care Quality
The next area we graded was long-term care, which is a weak spot for this facility. We awarded this facility a D for the area of long-term care. Nursing homes that don't score well in long-term care often don't provide as much nursing care and also may be struggling in some of the areas of routine healthcare services we assessed. After looking at the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we then analyzed the nursing home's vaccination statistics. Candidly, we were a bit alarmed this nursing home vaccinated 90.15385 percent of its patients for pneumonia, which is quite a bit below what we were hoping for. To our surprise, this place was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this facility had fewer hospitalizations than the majority of nursing homes. This is its best feature in this category.
