Facility Inspections
To go along with its decent overall grade, we gave this nursing home an A+ for its inspection grade. This score is far more impressive than its overall rating. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in calculating our inspection scores. One key factor is deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of deficiencies is arguably more meaningful than the number of deficiencies, as some deficiencies are quite minor. This place received 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none were considered severe. This means that CMS didn't deem any of the deficiencies to pose an immediate threat to resident health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is always a good sign.
Long-term Care Quality
This nursing home also was given a strong long-term care score. In fact, we awarded it a B in this category, which happens to be one of our more favorable scores. In a long-term care environment, the nursing home's primary goal is to maintain residents' quality of life and keep them safe. One of the factors we considered in addition to nursing hours was vaccinations. This facility administered the pneumonia vaccine to 84.74843 percent of its residents. While its vaccination rate was a bit lower than we like to see, we were pleased to find place was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Short-term Care Quality
The next category we assessed was short-term care. This nursing home's received a bottom of the barrel short-term care score where it received a lowly F. In our short-term care score, we try to craft a fair measure for rehabilitation. In doing so, we assess a nursing home's scope of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as speech therapy. With a score this poor for this area, we were not surprised to discover this nursing home was below average in multiple staffing metrics we looked at. In fact, it offered far fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per patient than most facilities. The last item we assessed in this category is the number of patients who were able to return home from the facility. This facility struggled quite a bit in this area as well, with just 3.7 percent of its residents returning home. This was quite a bit below average.
Nurse Quality
The next category we rated is nursing, which was this nursing home's least impressive category. Unfortunately, we gave it a lowly F in this category, which is clearly very disappointing. When determining a nursing home's nursing rating, we assess the number of hours nurses are seeing residents and the level of skill of the nurses. This place offered a meager 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient on a daily basis. This is an alarmingly low total. To go along with its low totals in the area of nursing hours per resident, this nursing home also did not perform as well in the quality-based measures we looked at in computing our nursing grades. We looked at the percentage of patients sustaining major falls and pressure ulcers. This place had more pressure ulcers and falls than the average nursing home.
