Nurse Quality
On top of being a quality nursing home overall, this facility really excelled in the area of nursing, where it received an A-. Nursing grades are heavily correlated with nurse staffing levels. This nursing home averages 0 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This nursing home performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a facility has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can typically be avoided if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.
Facility Inspections
This nursing home also excelled in inspections. We gave it an A- for that category, which is one of our best grades. This is one of the few nursing homes with an overall score in this range which earned multiple category grades this high. Inspection grades take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies, substantiated complaints and federal fines. You can learn more about each of these issues by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This place was assessed 5 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none were considered to be severe. This means that the inspectors did not consider any of the deficiencies an imminent risk to resident health or safety. The fact that the deficiencies were relatively minor leaves us less concerned with this inspection report.
Short-term Care Quality
Turning to an additional strength for this nursing home, we gave them one of our higher grades in our short-term care category as well, with a B+. Our short-term care grades are believed to be more critical for folks in need of a nursing home for rehabilitation. Rehabilitation usually utilizes more skilled nursing services. This means not merely nursing services, but also physical and respiratory therapy, as well as other types of therapy. We weren't able to track down registered nurse or physical therapy staffing data for this facility. The final measure we looked at in this area is the percentage of patients that who were able to eventually return home from the facility. We found that 0 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home as opposed to remaining at the nursing home on a permanent basis.
Long-term Care Quality
The final category we assessed was long-term care. We awarded this nursing home an acceptable score in this area, with a B-. Although this is not as favorable as a few of its other scores, it is nevertheless not a major area of concern. If you are looking for anything other than rehabilitation, you should take a close look at each facility's long-term care grades. In addition to assessing the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home administered the vaccine to 97.683395 percent of its patients. The last datapoint we looked at was the facility's hospitalization rate. Here we found that this nursing home had 1.92 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is not too far off the national average.
