Facility Inspections
While this facility's overall grade was decent, it really excelled in the area of inspections. In fact, we awarded it a grade of A for that category, which is one of our best scores. Arguably the most important factor we look at in computing our inspection scores is deficiencies. Deficiencies are found on a facility's recent inspection reports. Nursing homes with higher scores in this area most likely dodged the more severe deficiencies involving health risks or even death. While this place had some deficiencies on its government inspection report, none were serious based on CMS' deficiency scale. The fact that none of the deficiencies were severe made us feel better about this inspection report.
Nurse Quality
We also wanted to note that this facility received an impressive grade of B in nursing. Our nursing grade is mostly based on a facility's level of nurse staffing. This particular nursing home provided 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This place performed very well in terms of avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Long-term Care Quality
This nursing home's third most favorable area turned out to be long-term care. In that category, we gave this nursing home a grade of C. In the category of long-term care, we analyze the quantity of care offered by a nursing home, as opposed to more sophisticated services. After looking at the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we turned to the nursing home's vaccination statistics. We were optimistic to find that this nursing home vaccinated 94.5946 percent of its patients against pneumonia. This nursing home keeps its residents out of the hospital. It had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.
Short-term Care Quality
The final area we looked at was short-term care. This nursing home was given a C in this category. In the area of short-term care, we try to qualify indicators of a facility's rehabilitation services. We assess a facility's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses and physical, occupational and other therapists. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not every nursing home employs these types of nurses. However, according to the information they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The last item we considered in this category is the percentage of residents who were able to return home from the nursing home. We found that just 3.5 percent of this facility's patients returned home.
