Facility Inspections
We also wanted to point out that this nursing home earned near flawless health inspections recently. We awarded them an A+ in this area. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in determining our inspection scores. One critical factor is deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of the deficiencies is usually more meaningful than the number of deficiencies, as some deficiencies end up being relatively insignificant. This place received 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none of the deficiencies were considered severe. This means that the government inspectors didn't consider any of these deficiencies to cause an imminent threat to resident safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Long-term Care Quality
This nursing home also received an A+ for its long-term care score. When facilities receive this kind of score in long-term care it is a good sign for patient care and suggests that the nursing home is well-staffed with nurses and aids. One of the datapoints we considered after this nursing home's above average nursing hours was vaccinations. This nursing home administered the pneumonia vaccination to 100 percent of its residents. Vaccines are a great way to avoid unnecessary deaths and hospitalizations for seniors. The last datapoint we assessed is its hospitalization rate. Here we found that this nursing home had 3.08 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. While this admittedly wasn't as impressive as some of its other scores in this area, this statistic may be skewed for some nursing homes due to some of the medical complexity of patients.

Finally, we looked at the number of patients who were able to return home from this nursing home. We found that it outperformed the majority of facilities with 53.5 percent of its patients able to return home. This is a higher rate than most nursing homes.
Nurse Quality
Switching gears to our final area, this nursing home was awarded a very strong nursing score. We awarded it a B+ in this category, topping off one of our finer report cards. We analyzed the skill-level of nurses working for the facility, in addition to the number of hours the nurses were with patients, in calculating our rating in this area. This place offers extremely high levels of nursing care, averaging 4.2 hours per resident each day. This is more nursing care than nearly any other nursing home offers. Finally, we also looked at nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing ratings. These include minimizing residents' pressure ulcers and major falls.
