Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

In addition to being a great facility overall, it also earned A+ inspections recently. Its inspections are nearly flawless. Inspection ratings take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies and federal fines. You can learn more about each of these factors by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This facility received 5 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none of the deficiencies were considered to be major deficiencies. This tells you that CMS didn't deem any of the deficiencies to create an imminent risk to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A

This facility also was given a fine long-term care score. This actually is this facility's second best category score. In that category, this facility received a score of A. When nursing homes receive this kind of score in this category it is typically a good sign for resident care and suggests that the place is well-staffed with nurses aids. In addition to providing very impressive levels of nursing care, this facility administered the pneumonia vaccine to 97.864075 percent of its patients. Vaccines are critical to keeping residents out of the hospital. This combination proved to be successful as this place was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. While it had 2.35 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, its risk adjusted score was better than most nursing homes due to it having some more complex patients.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A-minus

This nursing home also received a very impressive nursing grade. In that area, we awarded this facility a grade of A-. There are a number of subcategories included in this area. Many of the subcategories reflect the quantity of nurse staffing. This nursing home provided 4.2 hours of nursing care per patient per day, which is among the more impressive totals in the country. A significant percentage of those hours were provided by registered nurses, which are one of the most skilled levels of nurses. We are very impressed by both of these statistics. On top of looking at levels of nursing care, we also looked at a few quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. These include minimizing residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We view these areas as good indicators of the quality of nursing care provided, since better care tends to reduce these problems.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

Switching gears to the final category, this nursing home was awarded a highly favorable short-term care grade. We awarded it a grade of A- in that category, giving this facility straight A's. Short-term care ratings are based in part on the nursing home's quantity of skilled highly skilled professionals. This means a wide scope of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, not to mention other types of therapy. This nursing home elevated its grade in this category by offering more care from registered nurses to its residents than the average facility. Lastly, we considered the percentage of patients who returned home from this nursing home. It outperformed most nursing homes in this area with 51.6 percent of its residents returning home. This is a better rate than most nursing homes.
