Facility Inspections
One of the many reasons this turned out to be a quality nursing home is that it received an A+ inspection grade. This is simply as good as it gets in this critical category. Our inspection ratings weigh several factors included in a facility's inspection report. One of the most important criteria we weigh heavily is the number and severity of deficiencies. Places with better grades in this area typically have very few severe deficiencies. This nursing home was hit with 2 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none were considered to be severe deficiencies. This tells you that the government inspectors didn't consider any of these deficiencies an immediate risk to patient safety or health. We should point out that deficiency-free inspection reports are rare in the industry.
Short-term Care Quality
This facility also fared very well in the category of short-term care, where it received a grade of A-. Not many facilities performed better in this category. Our short-term care grade is commonly used to grade a facility's rehabilitation services. To provide highly scored rehabilitation services, facilities generally must provide better levels of skilled nursing services. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists and other highly skilled individuals. Unfortunately, it does not look like this nursing home provided information about its staffing of registered nurses or physical therapists. The final item we assessed in this area is the percentage of patients who ultimately were able to return home from the facility. We found that 6 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home as opposed to remaining at the facility on a permanent basis.

This nursing home is also above average in the category of long-term care, where it was awarded a score of B+. It performed more favorably than most facilities in this area. Once we assessed the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we next considered the nursing home's vaccination data. This facility vaccinated 100 percent of its residents for pneumonia. Vaccines are vital to keeping residents healthy. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its patients out of the hospital. It had only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.
Nurse Quality
Turning to the next category, this facility was awarded a high-end nursing grade. Even though this is not nearly as impressive as several of its other scores, this remains one of the more favorable scores a facility can receive. There are quite a few factors included in this grade. Most of these data points are tied to the quantity and quality of nurse staffing. This particular nursing home provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This facility performed very well when it comes to minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.
