Facility Inspections
Although we gave this nursing home a poor overall grade, we awarded it a grade of B+ for our inspections category. This was the result of the nursing home receiving a decent inspection report this year. These inspection scores weigh several factors, including deficiencies and federal fines. You can learn more about each of these issues by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. While this place had some deficiencies on its inspection report, none of them were serious based on CMS' deficiency scale. A couple minor deficiencies aren't necessarily the end of the world.
Long-term Care Quality
We awarded this facility a grade of just D for our long-term care rating and that actually wound up as its second most favorable category. Nursing homes that don't fare well in long-term care typically aren't as well-staffed and are lagging in some of the areas of routine personal care we assessed. On top of assessing the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. Frankly, we were a bit concerned this nursing home vaccinated a relatively low 80.33175 percent of its residents. Surprisingly, this place actually fared well at keeping its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. This is its best feature in this category.

Nurse Quality
Among this nursing home's several poor grades was its F in the area of nursing care. Nursing scores are based in large part on levels of nurse staffing. With only 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident on a daily basis, this nursing home's nurse staffing levels were quite a bit below average. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in computing our nursing scores. This nursing home performed well when it comes to avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers.
Short-term Care Quality
The final category we assessed is short-term care, in which this facility was given a bottom of the barrel grade here also. Unfortunately, we gave it an F for this category, which is definitely somewhat alarming. Our short-term care grades are likely more meaningful for residents needing a nursing home for rehabilitation. Rehabilitation typically mandates additional highly-skilled nursing. This means not merely nursing services, but also physical and respiratory therapy, as well as other variations of therapy. Based on its grade in this category, we were not stunned to discover that this facility is well below average in terms of the quantity of physical therapy and registered nurse hours provided to its residents based on the data we assessed. Finally, we considered the number of patients who were able to return to the community from this facility. This wasn't a strength for this facility. We found that just 3.9 percent of this facility's residents returned home. At most facilities, around half of their residents are able to return home so this is well below average.
