Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

In addition to faring well overall, this nursing home also earned a nearly flawless inspection report. Consequently, it received one of our highest grades in that category with a grade of A+. Perhaps the most critical factor we look at in calculating our inspection ratings is deficiencies. These deficiencies can be found on a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Places with better scores in this category most likely dodged the most severe deficiencies involving patient abuse or death. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A

On the list of its many elite grades, this facility received a top-shelf long-term care grade. In fact, we gave it a score of A in that area. When facilities receive this type of grade in this category it is usually a good sign for patient care and indicates that the nursing home is well-staffed with nurses and aids. After assessing the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we next considered the nursing home's vaccination record. This nursing home vaccinated 97.1831 percent of its residents against pneumonia. Vaccines are vital to keeping patients healthy. Clearly, this facility is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

Turning to the third area, this facility also received a score of B+ for its short-term care rating. This is a well above average grade in this category. In the category of short-term care, we strive to qualify indicators of a facility's rehabilitation. We look at the facility's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses and physical and occupational therapists. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not every facility employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, based on the data this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The final measure we looked at in this area is the percentage of residents who were able to leave the facility and return to the community. We discovered that 0 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-plus

The last area we graded was nursing, where this nursing home received a grade of B+. This completed a very impressive profile. Few nursing homes received a B+ or higher in every single category. Our nursing grade is largely based on the facility's level of nurse staffing. This nursing home averages 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also factored a few quality measures into our nursing grades. This facility was relatively weak in two of the major areas we focus on, with below average scores for minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. These areas are generally reliable indicators of the quality of nursing care provided.
