Facility Inspections
Although we didn't grade this facility favorably overall, we did give it an excellent score in the area of inspections, where it earned an A+. Our inspection ratings account for a host of factors included in a facility's inspection reports. One of the most important criteria we consider is the number and severity of deficiencies. You generally want to avoid nursing homes with a list of severe deficiencies flagged. Although this place had some deficiencies on its inspection report, none of them were major deficiencies based on CMS' scale. A few minor deficiencies are not necessarily the end of the world.
Nurse Quality
We gave this facility a grade of just D for our nursing rating and that actually turned out to be its second highest score. Our nursing score is mostly associated with the facility's nurse staffing. This nursing home offered a meager 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident daily. This is an alarmingly low total. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in calculating our nursing ratings. This nursing home fared well in the area of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls.

Long-term Care Quality
Sadly, this nursing home only earned a grade of D for its long-term care grade, which is not an impressive grade. In a long-term care setting, the facility's primary goal is to keep patients as healthy and safe as possible. This is different than skilled nursing or short-term care where the goal is to rehabilitate patients. In addition to assessing the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. Fortunately, this nursing home administered the vaccine to 95.15571 percent of its residents, which is an above average total. To our surprise, this place also fared well at keeping its patients out of the hospital. It had only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. Unfortunately, a few of its other scores in this category were not as favorable as these.
Short-term Care Quality
The final category we analyzed is short-term care. This nursing home was given a poor grade of F in that area. Our short-term care scores are critical for residents looking for rehabilitation. Rehabilitation usually requires additional skilled nursing services. This includes a vast spectrum of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. Not surprisingly, we found that this nursing home provides far less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than the average facility. Lastly, we assessed the number of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. This definitely was not a strength for this nursing home. We found that just 3.6 percent of this facility's patients returned home. At most facilities, about half of their patients are able to return home so this is well below average.
