Facility Inspections
Although we gave this facility a terrible overall grade, we awarded it a grade of C for our inspections rating. In fact, the facility received very impressive inspection report this year. Inspection scores account for a host of factors included in a facility's inspection report. One of the most important criteria we weigh heavily is the number and severity of deficiencies. This nursing home had 7 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none were in any of the categories labeled J through L. This indicates that CMS did not deem any of the deficiencies to put patient health or safety in immediate harm or jeopardy. Another area of concern is that CMS flagged this nursing home for possible abuse or neglect. This is not what you want to see. We advise you to direct your search elsewhere.
Short-term Care Quality
Additionally, we gave this nursing home a rock-bottom F in the area of short-term care. Our short-term care grade is commonly employed to score a nursing home's rehabilitation services. To provide good rehabilitation services, nursing homes generally need to feature higher levels of highly skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists and other highly skilled individuals. Not surprisingly, we found that this nursing home provides far less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than the average facility. Finally, we considered the number of residents who ultimately returned home from this facility. This nursing home didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 4.5 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home.
Does this page answer your questions about Skyview Springs Rehab and Nursing Center?
Nurse Quality
Among this nursing home's several poor grades was its F in the area of nursing care. Nursing ratings are tied to levels of nurse staffing. This place provided only 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient each day. This is well below average. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This place performed well in the area of avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers. Many consider these metrics to be indicators of the quality of nursing care.
Long-term Care Quality
Turning to our next area, this facility didn't perform very well in this category either. With an abysmal grade of F in long-term care, this is just about as as uninspiring as it gets. For patients seeking a permanent residence as opposed to rehabilitation, long-term care grades are a key measure. On top of looking at the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. Thankfully, this nursing home provided the vaccine to 97.349396 percent of its residents, which is a very solid percentage. To our surprise, this nursing home also keeps its residents out of the hospital. It had just 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. Sadly, some of its other scores in the category weren't as favorable as these.
