Facility Inspections
To go along with its decent overall score, we awarded this nursing home an A+ for its inspection grade. This score is far more impressive than its overall score. Inspection ratings weigh several factors found on a facility's inspection report. One of the most important criteria we consider is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Facilities with better scores in this area usually have few of these severe deficiencies. This facility received 2 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none were considered severe. This indicates that the government inspectors didn't deem any of these deficiencies to create an imminent risk to patient safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Long-term Care Quality
Additionally, we also wanted to draw your attention to the fact that this nursing home was given positive long-term care marks in this assessment. We gave them one of our better scores in this category, with a grade of B+. This turned out to be the nursing home's second best score. Long-term care ratings in this range generally require both around the clock care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine healthcare services. In addition to looking at the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home administered the vaccine to 92.24806 percent of its patients. This is somewhat lower than we anticipated but still a reasonably acceptable figure. Lastly, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Short-term Care Quality
This facilities next best area was short-term care. We awarded it a grade of B- in this area. This is basically a slightly below average grade in this area. Our short-term care ratings are considered to be most important for individuals needing rehabilitation services. Rehabilitation typically requires higher levels of skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing means not merely nursing, but also physical and speech therapy, as well as other variations of therapy. Unfortunately, we weren't able to locate information about this nursing home's registered nurse or physical therapy staffing. Finally, we considered the number of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 5.4 percent of this facility's patients returned home. At most nursing homes, closer to half of their patients are able to return home so this figure is below average.
Nurse Quality
The next area we analyzed is nursing, which turned out to be this nursing home's least impressive area. Unfortunately, we gave it an abysmal F for this category, which is obviously a major concern. We looked at the licensure of nurses at the nursing home, in addition to the quantity of time those nurses spent with patients, in computing our rating in this category. This facility provided only 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident on a daily basis. In addition to receiving below average marks for total nursing hours, this nursing home was a bit less impressive in some of the quality-based metrics we looked at in computing our nursing ratings. We looked at the percentage of residents suffering pressure ulcers and found this facility was at roughly 150 percent of the national average in this statistic.
