On top of receiving a strong overall grade, this nursing home also received top notch government inspections in recent years. We awarded them one of our higher scores in that area, with a grade of A+. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in calculating our inspection ratings. One critical factor is health deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of deficiencies is arguably more meaningful than the number of deficiencies, as some of these can be quite minor. It does not appear that we have deficiency counts for this nursing home. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Contributing to this nursing home's list of accomplishments, it also received a very favorable long-term care grade. We awarded them a dominant strong of A+ in this category. In a long-term care setting, the nursing home's primary goal is to maintain patients' quality of life and keep them safe. In addition to considering the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility administered the vaccine to 93.27731 percent of its patients, which is a few points lower than we were hoping for. The last statistic we looked at is the nursing home's hospitalization rate. We found that this nursing home had 2.32 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days.

Turning to the area of nursing care, this was not one of this facility's strong suits. We awarded it a grade of D in this category. Clearly, this facility performed much better in the categories discussed above. We analyzed the skill-level of nurses employed by the nursing home, as well as the quantity of time the nurses worked with residents, in calculating our rating in this area. This nursing home provides 3.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is slightly below average. Although this facility's nursing hours are below average, it actually surprised us in some of the qualitative metrics in this category. In particular, we were pleased to find that its patients appear to be sustaining fewer pressure ulcers than most nursing homes.

Turning to the fourth category, this facility didn't perform well. With a bottom of the barrel grade of F in this category, this is obviously this nursing home's worst grade. In forming our short-term care ratings, we quantify the facility's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses, respiratory therapists, physical therapists and other types of skilled professionals. Our goal is to devise a barometer for sizing up the rehabilitation services of various nursing homes. It looks like this nursing home was subpar in several staffing metrics we assessed. The facility offered fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per patient than most other facilities. The last metric we looked at in this category is the number of residents who were able to leave the facility and return home. We discovered that just 46.7 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home.
