Facility Inspections
While we graded this facility incredibly poorly overall, it received a fairly respectable inspection report this year. As a result, it received a decent grade in that category with a score of B-. We believe that one of the most critical factors in evaluating an inspection report is deficiencies. In this regard, we especially look at the severity of the deficiencies. Fortunately, although this place had some minor dings on its report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are those found in categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This means the government inspectors didn't consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. A few minor deficiencies are not the end of the world.
Nurse Quality
This nursing home really excelled in nursing, where it received an C. Few nursing homes performed better in this category. Nursing scores are primarily based on the nursing home's level of nurse staffing. This facility averages 0.2 hours of nursing care per patient daily, which is not an impressive total. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this place actually excelled in some of the quality-based metrics we looked at. It performed well in the area of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers.

Long-term Care Quality
This nursing home's second lowest score was long-term care, where it earned just a D in that category. This is a relatively poor score. Nursing homes that receive this type of grade in this category may not provide the kind of consistent around the clock care that some other facilities provide. After considering the quantity of nursing care, we next considered the facility's vaccination statistics. Candidly, we were a bit worried that this facility vaccinated a relatively low 47.31183 percent of its patients against pneumonia. To our surprise, this facility actually fared well at keeping its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. This is its best feature in this category.
Short-term Care Quality
The final area we analyzed is short-term care. It received a lowly F for this category, which is a very poor grade. Our short-term care grade is often used to measure a nursing home's rehabilitation services. To offer highly graded rehabilitation services, facilities generally need to feature higher levels of skilled nursing. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, respiratory therapists and other highly trained professionals. With a grade of this caliber in this area, we were not shocked to learn this facility was below average in many staffing figures we focus on. In fact, it offered significantly fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most nursing homes. The final metric we looked at in this area is the number of patients who ultimately were able to return home from the nursing home. This nursing home struggled quite a bit in this area as well, with just 3.8 percent of its residents returning home. Unfortunately, this was well below the national average.
