Nurse Quality

Grade: B-plus

While we did not rate this nursing home well overall, we want to point out its much more favorable nursing grade this year. We gave it a respectable grade of B+ in this category, which was much better than its overall rating. Our nursing rating is largely based on the facility's nurse staffing. This facility provided 0 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also assessed certain nursing quality-based metrics in computing our nursing grades. These include minimizing residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We view these datapoints as good measures of the caliber of nursing care offered, since better care tends to reduce these problems.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B

This nursing home also was given an impressive grade in our short-term care category. We gave this facility an above average grade of B in that area. Our short-term care grade is often used to judge a facility's rehabilitation services. To provide highly scored rehabilitation services, nursing homes generally must feature better levels of highly skilled nursing. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists and other highly skilled individuals. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear that this facility submitted registered nurse or physical therapist staffing data. The final metric we considered in this category is the number of residents that were able to return home from the facility. We found that it performed better than most facilities in this area with 51.2 percent of its patients returning home.

Facility Inspections

Grade: F

We also wanted to draw your attention to this nursing home's inspection grades where it received an F. This generally means we found some red flags on the inspection reports. For places that received this poor of an inspection score, we recommend scrutinizing any severe deficiencies on its inspection report. This particular nursing home was assessed 4 deficiencies by government inspectors. The only favorable thing we can say is that none of these deficiencies were in the categories that indicate they posed a risk to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility also received 5 substantiated complaints in recent years. This is yet another bad sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: F

The last category we looked at was long-term care, where this facility received a poor grade in this category also. Unfortunately, we gave it an F in this area, which is definitely somewhat alarming. Long-term care ratings of this caliber generally are a bad sign for the quantity and quality of care provided by nurses and aids, as well as the levels of routine medical care available. On top of considering the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. We discovered that this facility vaccinated a relatively low 62.162163 percent of its residents, which is somewhat alarming. Surprisingly, this facility actually fared well at keeping its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had just 0 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. This was its best feature in this category.
