Although we didn't give this nursing home a good overall grade, we actually gave it a very strong grade in nursing, where it earned a grade of B+. This is better than most nursing homes in this area. Our nursing score is primarily tied to a facility's nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at certain nursing quality-based metrics in computing our nursing grades. These include minimizing residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We view these areas as reliable indicators of the quality of nursing care being provided, since better care tends to reduce these problems.

Short-term Care Quality

In addition, we also would like to point out that this facility was given strong short-term care marks in this assessment. We awarded them one of our more favorable grades in this area, with a grade of B+. This turned out to be the facility's second best score. Short-term care grades are generally used to score a nursing home's performance with rehabilitation. To provide highly graded rehabilitation services, nursing homes generally must offer better levels of skilled nursing. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, respiratory therapists and other highly skilled individuals. It doesn't look like this facility submitted information about its staffing of registered nurses or physical therapists. The last metric we looked at in this category is the percentage of patients who were able to leave the facility and return to the community. It was above average in this area with 51.2 percent of its residents returning home.

We wanted to point out this place's inspection rating where it received a lowly F. For places that received this poor of an inspection rating, we recommend scrutinizing any severe deficiencies on its inspection report. This nursing home was hit with 4 deficiencies on its inspection report. The only favorable thing we found is that none of the deficiencies were in the categories that indicate they posed a threat to resident health or safety. Finally, this facility also received 5 substantiated complaints in recent years. This is yet another bad sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Switching gears to the last area, this nursing home really did not perform very well here either. Due to a rock bottom grade of F in long-term care, this is really as terrible as it gets. Long-term care scores of this caliber generally are a bad sign for the quantity and quality of care provided by nurses and aids. After we finished assessing the amount of nursing care, we turned to the facility's vaccination data. Candidly, we were a bit concerned this nursing home vaccinated only 62.162163 percent of its residents for pneumonia. Surprisingly, this place was actually decent at keeping its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. This is its best score in this category.
