Registered Staff Hours
Nurse Quality
Even though we did not have many favorable things to say about this facility's overall score, it did receive a respectable nursing score of B-. When computing a nursing home's nursing rating, we consider the number of hours nurses are with patients and the level of licensure of the nurses. This nursing home averages just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident on a daily basis, which is well below average. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this nursing home surprisingly excelled in some of the quality measures we looked at. In fact, it performed well in the area of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls.
Long-term Care Quality
One of this facility's more respectable category grades came in the area of long-term care. This proved to be its second most respectable category. In that area, we awarded this facility a grade of B-. Long-term care ratings are based on the nursing home's volume of nursing care. This means a vast range of personal care services, ranging from assistance with activities of daily living to routine healthcare services. In addition to looking at the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. Fortunately, this nursing home gave the vaccine to 98.96907 percent of its residents, which is a very solid total. This nursing home was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. It had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Short-term Care Quality
This facility's next most favorable category turned out to be its short-term care score, where it received a C. In crafting our short-term care scores, we look at the facility's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses, speech therapists, physical therapists and other types of therapists. Our goal is to create a barometer for comparing the rehabilitation services of various facilities. We were surprised to find that this place was below average in the two key staffing areas we assessed. In fact, it provided fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most other nursing homes. The final datapoint we assessed in this category is the number of residents who were able to leave the nursing home and return home. We discovered that just 5.1 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home, which is below average.
Facility Inspections
Turning the last category of inspections, this nursing home really did not fare well. It received an F in our inspection category. This is the most heavily weighted category in our overall grading system. With facilities that received this bad of an inspection rating, we would scrutinize the severe deficiencies on its inspection report. This particular facility had one category J or K deficiency, which are among the worst deficiencies. These categories mean that inspectors identified a deficiency which puts patient health or safety in imminent jeopardy. Another red flag is that CMS cited this nursing home for possible abuse or neglect. Hopefully, its performance improves in the future, but until then we simply can't recommend this facility.
