Facility Inspections
To go along with its strong overall grade, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A for our inspections rating. Arguably the most important factor we look at in calculating our inspection grades is deficiencies. Deficiencies are found on a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Nursing homes with better grades in this area typically dodged the more severe deficiencies involving patient abuse or death. Although this nursing home had a few deficiencies on its report, none were serious based on CMS' scale. Remember that deficiency-free inspection reports are rare in the industry.
Long-term Care Quality
This facility performed well in the category of long-term care. As a result, we awarded it a score of A- for that area, which happens to be one of our best grades. For long-term care residents, the nursing home's primary goal is to keep patients as healthy and safe as possible. This is different than skilled nursing or short-term care where the goal is to rehabilitate residents. After looking at the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we then looked at the facility's vaccination statistics. This facility vaccinated 87.341774 percent of its patients for pneumonia, which is a bit less than we anticipated but still a decent figure. Although its vaccination rate was a bit lower than we like to see, we were pleased to find place was able to limit hospitalizations. It had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Nurse Quality
Next, we looked at the nursing category where we awarded this nursing home a grade of B-. This facility didn't perform quite as well in this category as it did in some other categories. Nevertheless, this is still a respectable score. Nursing ratings are tied to levels of nurse staffing. This place provided just 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident on a daily basis. This is a relatively low total compared to most other facilities. Finally, although this nursing home got dinged a bit for its nursing hours, it excelled in some of our quality measures. With less than five percent of its patients experiencing pressure ulcers, it performed very well in this statistic.
Short-term Care Quality
Switching gears to our final area, this nursing home was awarded a decent short-term care grade. While this isn't quite as good as some of its other grades, this is truly not a terrible score. In the area of short-term care, we strive to qualify indicators of a facility's rehabilitation. We assess a nursing home's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses and physical and occupational therapists. Unfortunately, we weren't able to find information on registered nurse or physical therapy staffing for this nursing home. Lastly, we looked at the number of residents that were able to return home from this nursing home. We found that 5.3 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was actually well below the national average.
