Facility Inspections
Although we gave this facility a terrible overall grade, we awarded it a B- for our inspections rating. In fact, the facility received very impressive inspection report this year. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in computing these inspection scores. One of those factors is health deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of the deficiencies is usually more meaningful than the number of deficiencies, as some of these are relatively minor. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Despite this deficiency, this place still had a relatively positive inspection report.
Nurse Quality
Remarkably, we awarded this nursing home a grade of C for our nursing rating, which isn't a bad grade. The nursing grade considers many subcategories. The most heavily weighted factor is the amount of time nurses spent with residents. This facility provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident on a daily basis. This is a lower figure than we were hoping for. Lastly, although this place got dinged a bit for nursing hours per resident, it actually excelled in some of our quality measures. With less than five percent of its residents suffering from pressure ulcers, it performed remarkably well in this subcategory.

Long-term Care Quality
Unfortunately, this nursing home's next best score was long-term care. As it turns out, with a D in this category, it still fared somewhat badly. Facilities that don't score well in this category often do not provide as much nursing care and also may be struggling in a few of the areas of routine healthcare services we looked at. In addition to assessing the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home provided the vaccine to 91.77419 percent of its patients. This is a bit less than we expected but still a respectable percentage. Surprisingly, this place was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this facility had less hospitalizations than many nursing homes. This was its best score in this category.
Short-term Care Quality
The next area we assessed was short-term care. Sadly, it received an F for this area, which is a bottom of the barrel score. In calculating our short-term care scores, we assess a nursing home's levels of skilled nursing, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists occupational therapists and other highly skilled individuals. This area is more often than not a fair measure of the facility's ability to rehabilitate patients. With a score this poor in this category, we weren't stunned to learn that this facility was below average in multiple staffing figures we focus on. It offered far fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than most other nursing homes. Finally, we assessed the number of residents who were able to return to the community from this facility. This wasn't a strength for this nursing home. We found that just 3.8 percent of this facility's patients returned home. At most facilities, about half of their residents are able to return home so this is well below average.
