Nurse Quality

Grade: A-minus

In addition to receiving a great overall score, this nursing home also received an elite nursing grade. We awarded them one of our better scores in that area, with an A-. In determining a nursing home's nursing score, we consider the number of hours nurses are with patients and the levels of training of the nurses. This particular nursing home provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This nursing home performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a facility has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can many times be prevented if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Facility Inspections

Grade: A-minus

In addition, this nursing home also excelled in inspections, where it received a grade of A-. Few nursing homes performed as well in this category. Inspection scores take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies and federal fines. Short-term Care Quality

This facility received a favorable short-term care score as well. We awarded it one of our higher grades in that area with a score of B+. In determining our short-term care scores, we look at the nursing home's levels of skilled nursing, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists respiratory therapists and other highly trained professionals. This rating is often a useful measure of a nursing home's rehabilitation. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not all facilities employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, according to the information they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The last item we assessed in this area is the percentage of patients who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community. We found that 5 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.

The final area we rated is long-term care. We gave this nursing home a D for our long-term care category, rendering this its least impressive area. For residents looking for a permanent residence rather than rehabilitation, long-term care grades are a key measure. On top of considering the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. Fortunately, this nursing home gave the vaccine to 98.34984 percent of its patients, which is an above average total. Surprisingly, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this nursing home has fewer hospitalizations than most nursing homes. Unfortunately, some of its other scores in the category were not as favorable as these.
