Facility Inspections
While we graded this facility incredibly poorly overall, it actually earned a fairly impressive inspection report this year. As a result, it received one of our more favorable scores in that category with a grade of B. Our inspection grades weigh a host of factors found on a nursing home's inspection reports. One of the most important criteria we look at is the number and severity of deficiencies. You generally want to avoid facilities with a list of deficiencies flagged. While this facility had some minor dings on its government inspection report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are those found in categories G through L. This tells you the government inspectors didn't deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. A couple minor deficiencies aren't the end of the world.
Nurse Quality
One of the other reasons we graded this facility so highly is that it received a very impressive nursing score. Nursing proved to be its second best category grade. In that area, we awarded this facility a grade of C. There are quite a few criteria included in this area. Most of these factors are tied to nurse staffing. This facility provides only 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident daily. This is a somewhat concerning figure as it is well below average. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality measures. While this nursing home got docked a bit for nursing hours, it actually excelled in some of these quality-based metrics. With less than five percent of its patients sustaining pressure ulcers, it fared very well in this subcategory. This is typically a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can many times be avoided by offering better nursing care, such as employing a system of moving patients more frequently.

Short-term Care Quality
Unfortunately, this facility only earned a D for its short-term care rating, which is not a score to write home about. Short-term care scores are based on the nursing home's quantity of skilled skilled healthcare professionals. This means a broad spectrum of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other types of therapy. Not surprisingly, we found that this nursing home provides far less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than the average facility. The last item we looked at in this category is the number of residents who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community. We discovered that just 4.2 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home, which is well below average. The combination of these subpar metrics sunk this nursing home's short-term care grade.
Long-term Care Quality
The final area we looked at is long-term care. This facility was given a poor grade of F in this category. When nursing homes receive a grade in this range in long-term care it generally means the nursing home didn't perform well in our measures relating to resident care. In addition to assessing the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. As it turns out, this facility gave the vaccine to a relatively low 63.090126 percent of its residents, which is not a very encouraging sign. To our surprise, this nursing home was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this nursing home has less hospitalizations than most nursing homes. This is its best score in this category.
