Facility Inspections
On top of performing well overall, this facility earned nearly flawless government inspections. Therefore, it earned one of our highest scores in that area with an A+. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in computing these inspection ratings. One of those factors is health deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of the deficiencies is usually more meaningful than the quantity of deficiencies, as some end up being quite minor. While this nursing home had a few deficiencies on its report, none of them were severe based on CMS' deficiency scale. We should note that deficiency-free inspection reports are rare in this industry.
Short-term Care Quality
Contributing to this facility's list of accomplishments, it also received a high-end short-term care grade. We awarded them a strong strong of A- in this area. Our short-term care grade is typically employed to gauge a nursing home's rehabilitation services. To offer highly graded rehabilitation services, facilities generally need to offer higher levels of skilled nursing. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, respiratory therapists and other licensed professionals. One of this nursing home's strength is that it offers more hours of physical therapy per week to its residents. Lastly, we looked at the percentage of residents who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that it outperformed the vast majority of nursing homes in the nation with 64.8 percent of its residents returning home.
Long-term Care Quality
The third category we assessed was long-term care. This nursing home received a favorable long-term care score, with a grade of B in the category. Long-term care grades in this range generally require both around the clock care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine healthcare services. This facility's vaccination statistics were not as favorable as its nursing hours data. It administered the pneumonia vaccine to just 84.89583 percent of its residents. We would love to see some improvement in this area in the future. The last datapoint we looked at is the facility's hospitalization rate. Here we found that this place had 5.06 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. Although this wasn't as strong as most of its other scores in this category, this number may be skewed for some nursing homes due to some of the preexisting medical conditions of residents.
Nurse Quality
The final area we graded proved to be this nursing home's weakest area. Nevertheless, even in its weakest link we still gave it an acceptable grade of B- in our nursing category. When determining our nursing ratings, we factor in both staffing levels and the levels of licensure of the nurses. This nursing home provided 4.1 hours of nursing care per patient each day, which was among the higher totals we found. Finally, our nursing ratings also factor in quality-based metrics, such as avoiding major falls. This place performed well in this metric.
