Although we gave this nursing home a terrible overall score, we awarded it a C for our nursing rating. Our nursing grade analyzes several datapoints, but the paramount consideration is the level of nurse hours per patient per week. This facility provided just 3.2 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a relatively low total compared to most other facilities. Lastly, while this nursing home did not rank highly in terms of nursing hours, it performed better in some of the quality-based metrics we looked at. In terms of the number of its patients sustaining pressure ulcers, this facility performed better than the national average.

This facility didn't receive favorable inspection reports in recent years. In fact, it received a D for its inspection score, which was unfortunately its second best category. One of the most important factors in evaluating inspection reports is deficiencies. We suggest you scrutinize the severity of those deficiencies. This particular facility was assessed 2 deficiencies by CMS. The only positive thing we can say is that none of these deficiencies were in the categories that suggest that they created a risk to resident safety or health. Finally, we also need to draw your attention to the fact that this nursing home was assessed significant government fines in recent years totaling more than $100,000. This often signifies that a facility'spoor track record spanned several years.

Moving on to the category of short-term care, this facility received a grade of just D in this area. Short-term care ratings are important for people looking for rehabilitation. Rehabilitation typically utilizes additional skilled nursing services. This means a broad range of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other types of therapy. Considering its abysmal grade in this area, we weren't stunned to discover that this place provides substantially fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per patient than most nursing homes. The last metric we assessed in this area is the percentage of residents that returned home from the nursing home. This nursing home struggled quite a bit in this area as well, with just 41.7 percent of its patients returning home.

Historical

Moving on to our next area, this facility really didn't perform well in this area either. Due to a poor grade of F in long-term care, this is really as as uninspiring as it gets. When nursing homes receive this type of score in this category it is often a bad sign for patient care and it may indicate that the nursing home is not as well-staffed with nurses and aids. One of the statistics we considered in addition to nursing hours is vaccines. Candidly, we were a bit worried that this facility provided the pneumonia vaccination to just 20 percent of its patients. Surprisingly, this nursing home was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With only 1.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this nursing home had less hospitalizations than the majority of nursing homes. This is its best feature in this category.
