Facility Inspections

Grade: B-minus

While we graded this facility incredibly poorly overall, it received a fairly respectable inspection report this year. As a result, it received a decent grade in that category with a score of B-. Our inspection grades weigh a host of factors included in a facility's inspection report. One of the most important criteria we rely on is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Although this facility had some deficiencies on its inspection report, none were serious based on CMS' deficiency scale. Lastly, this facility was flagged by CMS for possible abuse or neglect. We prefer to avoid facilities with this designation. Please do your best to find an alternative nursing home.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: C

Incredibly, we awarded this facility a C for our long-term care score, which isn't too bad of a score. Long-term care scores are based in part on the nursing home's volume of care. This means a broad scope of personal care services, ranging from help with activities of daily living to routine healthcare services. One of the criteria we considered in addition to nurse's aid hours was vaccines. Frankly, we were a bit concerned this facility provided the pneumonia vaccination to just 34.47205 percent of its residents. Nevertheless, this place excelled at keeping its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Nurse Quality

Grade: F

This facility ended up receiving rock bottom score in our nursing category. It received an F in this category. The nursing grade analyzes a handful of factors, however, the most important consideration is the number of nurse hours spent with patients. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing scores. This facility fared well when it comes to avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. Many consider these metrics to be indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: F

The last category we rated was short-term care, where this facility was given an abysmal score here also. Unfortunately, we gave it an abysmal F in this area, which is obviously a major disappointment. Short-term care scores are based on a facility's quantity of skilled highly skilled professionals. This means a wide spectrum of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, not to mention other types of therapy. With a score of this caliber for this area, we weren't shocked to find this nursing home was well below average in multiple staffing figures we assess. It supplied far fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per patient than most other nursing homes. The final metric we assessed in this category is the number of residents who ultimately returned home from the facility. This nursing home struggled quite a bit in this metric as well, with just 4.1 percent of its patients returning home. This was well below average.
