Facility Inspections
Although we didn't grade this facility favorably overall, we actually gave it an excellent grade in the area of inspections, where it received an A. Arguably the most important factor we consider in determining our inspection ratings is deficiencies. These deficiencies can be found on a facility's inspection reports. It is typically in your best interest to avoid places that have too many deficiencies. While this place had some deficiencies on its inspection report, none were serious based on CMS' scale. A few minor deficiencies aren't the end of the world.
Short-term Care Quality
This facilities second best area is short-term care. We awarded it a grade of C in this category. This is essentially a slightly below average score in this category. Short-term care ratings are based in part on a facility's quantity of highly-skilled skilled healthcare professionals. This includes a broad spectrum of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, not to mention other variations of therapy. In this place's case, we were surprised to learn that it actually provides less registered nurse and physical therapist hours per patient than the average facility. The last datapoint we considered in this area is the percentage of residents who were able to leave the facility and return to the community. We discovered that just 5.3 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home, which is below average.

Nurse Quality
This facility ended up receiving rock bottom score in our nursing category. It received an F in this category. We analyzed the qualifications of nurses at the nursing home, in addition to the quantity of hours the nurses worked with patients, in calculating our rating in this category. This nursing home provided a meager 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient on a daily basis. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in calculating our nursing ratings. This facility fared well when it comes to avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these statistics to be indicators of the quality of nursing care.
Long-term Care Quality
The final area we scored is long-term care, in which this facility received a bottom of the barrel score in this category as well. Sadly, it received a lowly F for this area, which is obviously somewhat alarming. When facilities receive this kind of score in this category it is often a bad sign for resident care and it may mean that the nursing home is not as well-staffed. On top of looking at the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. We found that this facility vaccinated just 59.94152 percent of its patients, which is several points lower than we expected. To our surprise, this facility was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this facility had fewer hospitalizations than most nursing homes. This was its best score in this category.
