Short-term Care Quality
This facility really excelled in our short-term care category, with an impressive grade of A- in this area. This really boosted its overall score. In the category of short-term care, we endeavor to assess indicators of a nursing home's rehabilitation. We analyze a nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as the ones performed by registered nurses and physical, occupational and other therapists. Fortunately, it looks like this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not all facilities employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, based on the data they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The last measure we looked at in this area is the number of residents who eventually returned home from the nursing home. We found that 5.8 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home as opposed to remaining at the facility on a permanent basis.
Long-term Care Quality
This facility also was awarded an impressive score in our long-term care category. We awarded this facility a better than average grade of B+ in this area. Nursing homes that receive this type of score in long-term care tend to provide consistent 24/7 care to make sure residents are kept in good health. After assessing the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we turned to the facility's vaccination record. This nursing home vaccinated 86.51163 percent of its patients for pneumonia, which is somewhat below what we were hoping for but still a decent figure. Although its vaccination rate was a bit lower than we had hoped, we were pleased to find nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. It had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

In computing a nursing home's nursing grade, we look at the quantity of hours nurses commit to residents as well as the level of licensure of the nurses. This nursing home provided a meager 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident daily. This is well below average. To pair with its subpar totals in the area of nursing hours per patient, this facility also did not perform as well in the quality-based measures we looked at in computing our nursing ratings.
