Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

On top of receiving a great overall score, this nursing home also received an A+ inspection rating. This grade is based on the facility's recent government inspections. An A+ in this area is one of the highest complements we can offer a facility. Our inspection grades account for several factors included in a facility's inspection report. One key criteria we rely on is the number and severity of deficiencies. Facilities with higher scores in this category tend to have very few of these severe deficiencies. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

We also awarded this nursing home a grade of A- for our long-term care grade. Facilities that receive this type of score in this category typically provide consistent around the clock care to make sure residents are well cared for. On top of assessing the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home administered the vaccine to 100 percent of its residents, which is much higher than the majority of nursing homes. Finally, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. It had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B

This nursing home also received a strong nursing score. In fact, we awarded it an above average grade of B in this area. Our nursing score consists of quite a few components, however, the paramount one is the quantity of nurse hours spent with patients. This particular nursing home provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This facility performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a place has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can often be avoided if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: C

The final area we rated is short-term care, where this nursing home was given a grade of C. This actually ended up being this facility's worst area. This is still a middle of the pack score. Short-term care grades are based on a facility's quantity of skilled highly skilled professionals. This means a broad scope of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, not to mention other forms of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not every nursing home employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, according to the data they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Finally, we assessed the percentage of residents that who were able to eventually return home from this facility. We found that 4.1 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was well below the national average.
