We also wanted to emphasize that this facility has received nearly flawless inspections recently. We awarded them an A in this category. Inspection ratings account for several factors found on a nursing home's inspection report. One key criteria we look at is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Nursing homes with higher scores in this category generally have very few of these severe deficiencies. This particular nursing home received 4 deficiencies on its inspection report. Overall, this is still a good inspection report, but we'd always recommend looking into any deficiencies you find troubling.

This nursing home also received a very impressive nursing grade. In fact, this turned out to be its second best category grade. In that area, we awarded this facility a grade of A-. The nursing score is based on many datapoints. The most important variable is the amount of time nurses spend with patients. With 4.1 hours of nursing care per patient each day, this facility surpassed the overwhelming majority of facilities. Finally, this facility also performed well in several of the quality measures we looked at. For example, in terms of the number of its residents sustaining falls which lead to serious injury, this facility performed as well as any nursing home in the state. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a nursing home has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can typically be prevented if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Turning our third area, this facility received first-rate short-term care grade. In fact, we gave it a grade of A- in that area. Short-term care grades are typically employed to grade a nursing home's performance with rehabilitation To have good rehabilitation services, nursing homes generally need to feature higher levels of highly skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists and other licensed professionals. This facility was satisfactory in the two key staffing areas we looked at. It offered a reasonable level of care from both physical therapists and registered nurses. The last item we looked at in this category is the number of patients who ultimately returned home from the nursing home. This place fared better than most nursing homes in this area with 50.7 percent of its patients returning home. With most facilities, fewer than half of their short-term residents are able to return home.

Switching gears to the last area, this nursing home received a strong long-term care grade. Even though this isn't as good as some of its other category grades, this is still one of our stronger grades a facility can receive. Nursing homes that do well in long-term care tend to provide residents with closer supervision and stay on top of routine healthcare services. In addition to providing very favorable levels of nurse staffing, this nursing home provided the pneumonia vaccine to 99.35898 percent of its residents. Vaccines are vital to keeping residents healthy. Lastly, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. With just 1.66 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this facility has less hospitalizations than most nursing homes.
