Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

Although we gave this nursing home an abysmal overall score, we awarded it a grade of B+ for long-term care. Nursing homes that excel in this category typically provide residents with better supervision and stay on top of routine healthcare services. In addition to considering the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility administered the vaccine to 98.35165 percent of its patients, which is an impressive figure. Pneumonia tragically can be a dangerous condition for nursing home patients so we strongly prefer when a nursing home does not roll the dice on this issue. Clearly, this facility is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Facility Inspections

Grade: C

This facility really didn't perform terribly in the category of inspections. In fact, we awarded it a C for that category. Other categories were the source of this facility's rock bottom overall score. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in computing our inspection scores. One key factor is deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of the deficiencies is usually more important than the number of deficiencies, as some deficiencies can be quite minor. This facility was hit with 5 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none were category G through L deficiencies. This tells you this facility dodged the more significant classes of deficiencies. Unfortunately, we also need to draw your attention to the fact that this facility received some government fines in recent years.

Nurse Quality

Grade: F

This facility ended up receiving rock bottom score in our nursing category. It received an F in this category. There are numerous datapoints included in this area. Most of these datapoints relate to levels of nurse staffing. This place provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident each day. This is well below average. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in computing our nursing grades. This facility performed well in terms of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: F

The last area we graded was short-term care. This facility received a rock bottom grade of F in this area. Short-term care ratings are crucial for people needing rehabilitation. Rehabilitation usually utilizes higher levels of skilled nursing services. This includes a wide scope of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other forms of therapy. Considering its grade in this category, we were not surprised to discover that this place is well below average in terms of its quantity of physical therapy and registered nurse hours provided to its residents based on the measures we assessed. Lastly, we considered the percentage of patients who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that just 3.8 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home.
