Facility Inspections

Grade: A

On top of receiving a great overall score, this nursing home also earned first-rate inspections in recent years. We awarded it one of our higher grades in that area, with an A. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in computing our inspection scores. One of those factors is deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of these deficiencies is usually more important than the number of deficiencies, as some end up being quite insignificant. Unfortunately, we weren't able to find deficiency data for this nursing home. Without having access to complete deficiency related data for this facility, it was difficult to really grade the place in terms of this category.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

This nursing home was given a favorable long-term care score as well. We gave it one of our higher scores in that area with a grade of B+. Long-term care scores in this range generally require both 24/7 care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine medical care. One of the factors we considered on top of nursing hours was vaccines. This facility administered the pneumonia vaccine to 100 percent of its residents. This is a reliable method to avoid unnecessary deaths and hospitalizations for the aged 65 and up population. Finally, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. It had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

This nursing home also received an impressive short-term care score. In fact, we awarded it an above average grade of B+ in this area. In crafting our short-term care ratings, we quantify the nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses, occupational therapists, physical therapists and other types of skilled professionals. The purpose is to create a scale for sizing up the rehabilitation services of different facilities. It doesn't look like this nursing home provided information on registered nurse or physical therapist staffing. The last statistic we considered in this area is the number of residents who were able to leave the nursing home and return home. We discovered that 6.2 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B

The final category we looked at is nursing, where this nursing home was awarded a grade of B. This nursing home turned out to be relatively strong across the board. The nursing rating is based on a handful of components, but the paramount one is the quantity of nurse hours spent with patients. This nursing home averages 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This facility performed very well when it comes to avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.
