To go along with its strong overall grade, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A for our inspections rating. Our inspection ratings weigh a host of factors found on a facility's inspection report. One of the most important criteria we weigh heavily is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Nursing homes with better scores in this category typically have few severe deficiencies. Although this facility had a few deficiencies on its government inspection report, none were severe based on CMS' scale. The fact that none of the deficiencies were severe leaves us less concerned with this inspection report.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

This facility also received an impressive long-term care score. In fact, we awarded it an above average grade of B+ in this category. Facilities that receive this kind of score in long-term care typically provide consistent 24/7 care to ensure residents are kept in good health. On top of considering the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility gave the vaccine to 100 percent of its residents, which is far higher than the vast majority of nursing homes. Lastly, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. It had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Another one of this facility's impressive category grades came in the area of nursing care. We awarded them one of our better scores in that area, with a grade of B. The nursing score consists of several components, but the paramount one is the number of nurse hours per patient per week. This particular nursing home provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This place performed very well when it comes to minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

The next area we scored was short-term care, where this nursing home received a grade of B. This facility did not turn out to have any real weaknesses. Short-term care ratings are crucial for people looking for rehabilitation. Rehabilitation usually utilizes more highly-skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes a vast spectrum of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, as well as other forms of therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not all facilities employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, based on the data they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists.
