This facility received a quality overall grade as described above, but we especially would like to emphasize its excellent inspections in recent years. We awarded it an A in this area. Inspection scores weigh a host of factors included in a nursing home's inspection reports. One of the most important criteria we look at is the number and severity of deficiencies. Nursing homes with higher grades in this category generally have very few severe deficiencies. Adding to its profile, this facility also earned a grade of B+ for its nursing rating. This is a well above average score in this category. Nursing scores are based in large part on levels of nurse staffing. This particular nursing home provided 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This place performed very well in terms of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

The last area we assessed was long-term care. It received a lowly F for this category, which is an abysmal grade. You should not necessarily dismiss a nursing home due to a single bad grade though. In a long-term care setting, the facility's primary objective is to maintain residents' quality of life and keep them safe. To our surprise, this place was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. Unfortunately, some of its other scores in the category were not as favorable as these.
