Facility Inspections
To go along with its strong overall score, we gave this nursing home an A+ for the area of inspections. Our inspection grades weigh a host of factors found on a facility's inspection report. One of the most important criteria we consider is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Nursing homes with higher scores in this category generally have few severe deficiencies. This place was hit with 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe. This tells you that CMS did not consider any of the deficiencies an imminent risk to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Long-term Care Quality
Another strong feature for this facility is that it was given a very positive long-term care grade. Indeed, this wound up being its second best category grade. In this area, we awarded this nursing home a B+. When facilities receive a grade in this range in this category it typically means it's well-staffed and is an overall good place to live on a permanent basis. In addition to looking at the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility vaccinated 100 percent of its patients, which is much higher than most nursing homes. Clearly, this place is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. It had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Short-term Care Quality
Turning to another strength for this nursing home, we awarded them one of our more positive scores in our short-term care category as well, with a B. Short-term care ratings are important for people needing rehabilitation. Rehabilitation usually mandates higher levels of skilled nursing. Skilled nursing means a vast range of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, as well as other forms of therapy. We weren't able to find information about this nursing home's registered nurse or physical therapy staffing. Finally, we assessed the percentage of residents who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 5.6 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.
Nurse Quality
The next area we rated was nursing, which was this nursing home's least impressive category. Unfortunately, we gave it an abysmal F in this category, which is obviously somewhat concerning. Nursing scores are based in large part on nurse staffing levels. This facility provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a very low total compared to most nursing homes. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in calculating our nursing grades. This place fared well in the area of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these statistics to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.
