Facility Inspections

Grade: B-plus

While this nursing home's overall grade was not a highlight, it actually received a very good grade in the category of inspections. We awarded it a grade of B+ for that category, which is one of our better grades. Our inspection grades are tied to many datapoints located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Deficiencies are an important thing to look for on these reports. Most importantly, you should avoid nursing homes that have severe deficiencies associated with risks to resident well being. This nursing home received 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe. This tells you that the inspectors didn't consider any of the deficiencies to create an imminent threat to patient health or safety. A few minor deficiencies are not necessarily the end of the world.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: C

The next highest category we awarded this nursing home in any area came in the area of short-term care, where we awarded it a grade of C. With our short-term care score, we endeavor to craft a fair barometer for rehabilitation services. In doing so, we analyze a nursing home's level of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as occupational therapy. In this facility's case, we were surprised to learn that it actually provides less registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than the typical facility. The hope is that this does not adversely affect the quality of care. The last statistic we looked at in this area is the percentage of patients who were able to leave the facility and return home. We discovered that just 4.5 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home, which is below average.

Nurse Quality

Grade: C

This nursing home actually received a decent grade in the area of nursing as well. We awarded it a grade of C for that category, which is not a bad score. Nursing grades are based in large part on nurse staffing levels. This facility provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a relatively low total compared to most other facilities. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this place fared better in some of the quality measures we assessed. It performed well in the area of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: D

The next area we graded is long-term care, which was a low point for this facility. We gave this facility a D for the area of long-term care. When nursing homes receive a grade in this range in long-term care it typically means the nursing home didn't perform well in our quality measures relating to resident care. In addition to looking at the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home administered the vaccine to 90.95128 percent of its residents, which is a bit below what we were hoping for. To our surprise, this nursing home was actually decent at keeping its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. This was its best feature in this category.
